Dale R Elijah Wood stars as Huck Finn and Courtney B. Vance as Jim. This is an entertaining movie and a fairly accurate retelling of the Mark Twain novel. Elijah Wood does a great job as Huck and I can see why he has had a long acting career. The movie is well directed, edited, written, and acted throughout. I would recommend at least one viewing. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Audience Member Huck Finn goes on an incredible adventure directed and produced by Stephen Sommers of 'Mummy' fame A very young and upcoming Elijah Wood, Ron Perlman, the late Anne Heche, the late Robbie Coltrane, the late Jason Robards, and Courtney B. Vance star in Mark Twain's 1844 timeless story of friendship and defying social constrictions Huckleberry Finn is a young boy living in the Mississippi River, he has a drunkard father who he's placed with taken away from his foster home The only way out is for him to fake his death Finn then befriends an escaped slave named Jimmy and both of then go on the run down the river overcoming many obstacles such as racism, prejudice, and societal oppression Finn has never heard such talk or imagined a slave being free but Jim has him open to the idea so he can be reunited with his family in New Orleans Just because you've been taught something to be right or popular doesn't make it right, all men should be free, you can't run away from problems, you can't have the joyful stuff without the hard stuff and Vice versa Slowly over the course of time Finn starts to see the horrors of being in an inhuman institution and goes to great lengths to save Jim The film goes by pretty fast at the start It's passable at best but Wood is the perfect portrayal of Huckleberry Finn very rebellious and deserves freedom Friendship and racial inequality are explored even if it doesn't take too many risks The book walked a risky road which stood out more A decent adaptation still with an expressive child actor along with good performances from all Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Jordan A lot more serious than the relatively goofy and light book. It got pretty scaryat the end, but really good. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I watched this movie so many times when I was 15. It was fun, occasionally sad and well acted. Though it does cut out Tom Sawyer. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/06/23 Full Review steve d Ok adaptation of a really bad book. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Hello,We watched the ever so funny, sweet, animated adventure of Huck Finn, 13 year old rascal in class today, so I decided to find another piece of filmography to compare it to. In doing so, I came across Disney's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." I took it upon my best interest to watch said film, and here are my thoughts. This was made in 1993 with children, making the acting only somewhat impeccable and the quality… Let's just say satisfactory. Overall, it is still a nice story, with only minor inaccuracies. I hope thou did enjoy reading this review, and that you, too, will watch this very mid movie. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
